We did film in Santa Clarita, and we actually had hour lunches. She was such a beacon of light on set and such a presence. She was just really, really cool and very casual and fun. I wish I had more opportunities to work with her, but we would interact walking around on set.

It's so algorithmically thrown together that even the titular premise/promise -- of someone being in someone's house -- doesn't even hold for more than one kill. It is derivative, because it is a slasher, by it's very nature it kinda has to be derivative. But it's smarter than it seems, even if it is basic towards the end. There's some good acting and an actual plot for the main characters, even if the killer reveal is cheap, obvious and uninspired. Still, I found myself engrossed instead of just watching while playing on my phone.

After a killing, a friend of the victim sings a song with the lyrics, “To God, His name and His glory.” A memorial service is set up in a church. A student calls for a public, non-denominational prayer in a crowd. (Laughs.) I always get these kismet connections to my characters in some way. It’s really dope, and I’m just grateful for all of the experiences.
Well, I don’t think it’s just limited to college campuses. We have seen intense feelings about this conflict play out in Hollywood. We’ve seen them in our politics in all kinds of interesting ways.
But they are now in league with a whole bunch of other universities that are struggling with the same set of questions. And it’s a set of questions that they’ve had since this war broke out. But college campuses, at least in their most idealized form, are something special. They’re a place where students get to go for four years to think in big ways about moral questions, and political questions, and ideas that help shape the world they’re going to spend the rest of their lives in.

I think there was obviously a lot of intention in timing those two things.
Maybe not calling on her to resign quite yet, but saying, I don’t know what’s going on your campus. And for those students who maybe couldn’t go back to — into campus, now all of their peers, who were supporters or are in solidarity, are — in some sense, it’s further emboldened. They’re now not just sitting on the lawns for a pro-Palestinian cause, but also for the students, who have endured quite a lot.

And the group of Makani’s friends spout nasty comments about kids in their school.
A pattern thus established, the question naturally becomes which of their classmates is taking the idea of cancel culture a little too literally — and whether they’re aware of the incident that resulted in Makani’s abrupt move.
